Baseball with The Bear, Part Deux

The Bear fell ill this morning, after a weekend of fun with her cousins. She and the Mouse slept through the night (Holy Crap!) but the Bear screamed out at 6am and began throwing up...from the hallway into our bathroom.

Yesterday we were in New Jersey for the Kelsey Theater's performance of Singin' in the Rain. T'was a total surprise for the Bear...she had no idea what we were doing or what we were seeing until the pre-show announcement thanked everyone for coming to see Singin' in the Rain. Her jaw hit the floor. The staging lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes (yikes!) and was 95% faithful to the movie even going so far as to feature an on-stage rain storm. It was definitely "local theater" but it was good enough to please our lil' Singin' in the Rain fan who sat in awe of the action on stage and music from the elevated orchestra section.

Since the Bear and I were home all day we got a 2nd chance at baseball's "opening day". No rain today in Cincinnati or Pittsburgh so the Phillies and Cubs' rare Monday afternoon games got started on time. We snuggled the entire day watching America's Pastime together...for the second consecutive Monday. What a life!

I made some homemade applesauce for the Bear, which she promptly let go of. So, she spent the rest of the day nibbling on saltines and drinking apple pedialyte. What was perfect was that she didn't act sick or miserable, aside from her puking episodes, so we were able to play a bit and actually enjoy the unexpected day off. It's days like this that convince me that I could be a stay at home dad. My favorite time on earth is when I'm hanging out with her (to paraphrase a new Justin Roberts' tune).
