One of two carousels within a short walk of the Eiffel Tower. This one is across the river, in front of the Trocadero. It is gorgeous! A double decker carousel with brilliantly clean and well-maintained horses, a hot air balloon (seen here), and a three seat wooden airplane. There are also benches for the adults to sit on while on board, and faux porch swings on the upper level. The tickets, in their cheapest form, are bought in a pack of 13 for 15 Euro.
The French flag, atop the Trocadero. This picture was taken from the little playground between the carousel and the Troc. A mixture of see-saws, slides, and mini-rock climbing walls are in this area perfectly suited for smaller kids, like our 2.5 year old.
The Arc de Triomphe at night. Photo taken from the exact spot as the daytime shot - in the middle of the Champs Elysees.
The corner brasserie were we stopped for ice cream on the way back to the hotel. Delicious!
We beat the jetlag in the first day. All three of us were asleep shortly after check-in and did not awake until nearly 3pm. We let the fresh air and long walks to and from the Eiffel Tower wear us out until we got the point where we were tired again at 10pm. A normal night sleep came to each of us and we woke at 9:30am refreshed and ready for the remainder of the vacation. Our next post comes from our new location in St. Remy de Provence!
